04-27-09 Oklahoma City:  Jeff Toney
Oklahoma City Nationals Drag Boat Race
Special Note:  I have talked to and heard from hundreds of people, most of who were negative about this race taking place.  The past is gone forever, forget it.  I can assure you that your life may not be as long as you hope it will be.  This event will be one of the most memorable times in your life but only IF you attend it.  What does your future hold?  An extremely exciting and memorable day that you are glad you lived or despair and gloominess over worrying about the past and what might not happen?  This event WILL happen - will YOU?  I hope the following will put to rest any fears about this race being held - This race has some very big backing behind it, not to mention the Speed TV Television contracts for the series.

UPDATE: has stepped to be the event sponsor.

From Lucas Oil Headquarters:
Lucas Oil Executive Vice-President Bob Patison
Lucas Oil Unites Drag Boat Racing in the U.S.A.
For the first time in twenty years,
all of drag boat racing has been united under one umbrella and will now be known as the Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series. The IHBA ( International Hot Boat ), SDBA ( Southern Drag Boat Association), SLDBA ( St. Louis Drag Boat Association), CDBA ( Columbia Drag Boats) and KDBA ( Kentucky Drag Boats) have all agreed on a single rule book that will unite approximately 900 race teams across the country.

This newly unified series will hold 46 events in 10 states and will be featured prime time for 13 weeks on  SPEED. The liquid quarter mile series features several pro classes including Top Fuel Hydro that run the quarter at a staggering time of 4.70 seconds and 250+ mph.   The professional show will also include 6 sportsman classes to provide added excitement to the spectators.

“We are very proud of this historic alliance.  We have seen the potential of drag boat racing through our years of involvement with the IHBA series.  Now that everyone has united with a common goal, we can bring something truly special to the race fans,” said Lucas Oil Executive Vice-President Bob Patison.

04-20-09 - Oklahoma City:
Buy - Sell - Race - Eat - Just Browse - It IS "Fun in Oklahoma"  and admission to the show is FREE.  Family Friendly.

The Greater Oklahoma City Hot Wheels Association holds a show almost every month and it continues to show a very strong growth pattern.  There are many booths and the number continues to grow.  It is a very interesting show even if you are not a die cast collector and they hold a Hot Wheels Race which is fun to watch.  Great food and refreshments at very reasonable prices are also available.  Their event dates are listed in the main Calendar of Events on "Fun in Oklahoma" or visit the link above. Visit the Die Cast Section for more information.

04-07-2009, El Reno:  School Baseball   Jeff Toney
The Guthrie Blue Jays Varsity and Jr. Varsity Baseball Teams Swept Down on El Reno and Left Them Stunned
The Varsity set the tone with a 15-0 victory and when the Jr. Varsity had scored 6 unanswered points the game was called and the victory handed to Guthrie.  In El Reno's defense, they had some key players out with injuries plus on some days when it starts to go bad it simply gets out of hand in a hurry.

El Reno has a nice field and facilities and there is a lot of construction going on around it so my guess is they are developing what will be an impressive and complete sports facility.  Their football stadium which is directly across the street is first class and it appears the whole area is going to become a show place for the City.  On the same property is the rodeo arena, lawn mower race track, and some other ball fields.  As the facilities come together so will these teams and I imagine we can look forward to great things in El Reno's future.

04-05-2009 - Oklahoma City:  Jeff Toney
The Rising Singing Star Kristen Stehr Topic of Promotional Video Shot on Sunday in Oklahoma City
The very talented singing artist is officially in the mix as a promotional company is moving forward to advance her career.  Watch for much more from this beautiful and talented artist.  I was there and took a few pictures.  I am sure there will be many more to come over the years as another Oklahoma Singer is on the rise.

There are an unbelievable amount of extremely talented musicians in Oklahoma, most of which never get a chance at the big time and there are also many who simply don't want to travel down that road but enjoy entertaining.  Jam Sessions are held weekly all across the state and they are great venues for you to be able to experience the talent of several groups in one session.  Check out the Music Section for more information about Music in Oklahoma.

04/04/2009 Oklahoma City:  Jeff Toney
Annual Thunder Run is Another Big Success Despite the Weather

Temperatures and high winds played a small role in the event forcing the cancelation of some scheduled events.  For example, they wanted to keep the Jet Pack guy in Oklahoma so he did not launch and end up in Kansas.  The motorcycle stunt show did not want to create new stunts that would not be wise to perform let alone repeat.

It did get very warm on Saturday and was pretty pleasant while I was

there.  The wind did come sweeping down the plains and brought with it a good deal of dust and although it was a little annoying we are used to it here in Oklahoma.  Everyone seemed to be coping with it and was having a great time.

It was good to see the promotion of the upcoming drag boat races on the Oklahoma River, The Oklahoma City Nationals IS returning to Oklahoma City in June.  At one end of the Thunder Run site was the Blown Hydro and the group had a booth set up at the opposite end of the event site so there was good coverage to get the information out about the upcoming race.  The race WILL happen this year.\
Motorcyclists are known for their toughness and they turned out by the thousands.  It was still elbow to elbow navigating the huge crowd to take in all the sights and activities.  There was plenty to see and do plus a lot of great food and thousands of beautiful customized motorcycles.  Where there are beautiful customized motorcycles you will find beautiful customized girls.  You read that right, just think about it.  This event was no exception.  See Pictures of this event HERE.
